1. Introduction

Gopinath P.G. College observed World Environment Day with a series of awareness activities focused on environmental protection and sustainable living. Faculty members, students, and staff actively participated in initiatives promoting a greener and healthier campus.

2. Objectives of the Programme

  • To foster awareness on environmental protection and sustainable practices.
  • To encourage tree plantation and develop responsibility toward natural resources.
  • To inspire students to become active environmental custodians through community engagement.

3. Programme Activities

The day began with a tree plantation ceremony on the college campus, where medicinal, fruit-bearing, and indigenous plants were planted. Students participated in a Green Walk promoting messages on conservation, reduction of plastic use, and climate awareness.

A short awareness talk highlighted the importance of restoring degraded lands, safeguarding water resources, and preventing deforestation. Students also took a pledge to protect trees and maintain the campus plantation regularly.

4. Leadership and Guidance

Principal Dr. Sudha Tripathi addressed the gathering, emphasizing that environmental responsibility must begin at the individual level. She encouraged students to adopt eco-friendly habits such as planting trees, saving water, and reducing waste.

Faculty members and non-teaching staff actively participated, supporting students throughout the awareness activities.
