1. Introduction

Under the theme “Ozone Layer – From Science to Global Technology”, the Geography Department of Gopinath PG College organized a student seminar to raise awareness about the ozone layer and its global importance in protecting life on Earth from harmful ultraviolet rays. The event aimed to educate students on scientific research, global environmental challenges, and sustainable human actions.

2. Objectives of the Seminar

  • To spread awareness about the ozone layer and its role in protecting life on Earth.
  • To educate students about ozone depletion and global environmental concerns.
  • To highlight scientific research and technological innovations related to ozone protection.
  • To promote sustainable human behavior and environmental responsibility.
  • To encourage active participation of students in environmental conservation.

3. Seminar Highlights

Keynote Address by Principal – Dr. Sudha Tripathi

Dr. Tripathi delivered an insightful lecture on the theme “From Science to Global Technology”. She emphasized:

“Ozone is as important as oxygen for life.”
  • The ozone layer protects all living beings from harmful ultraviolet radiation.
  • Scientists first raised ozone depletion concerns in the 1970s, prompting global action.
  • Ozone Day is celebrated to spread environmental awareness and encourage sustainable practices.

The seminar was convened and anchored by Dr. Rishikesh Tiwari, Head, Department of Geography & Seminar Convenor. He highlighted that the ozone layer is essential for maintaining life on the planet and that celebrating Ozone Day helps society understand its global importance.
